I had 2 accounts with citi financial that were deleinquent.I settled one with citi financial in 2006,and the other one just recently in 2007 with the collection agency it was sent to.I thought I was done with them ,but when I got home today I received a letter from a collection agency for the account that i settled in 2007(It is a different agency then the one i made the settlement with) for the balance of the amount that was supposedly forgave.I cannot find my release of debt letter.Can the collection agency pursue me for this?I do have the copy of the western union receipt for the funds that i have sent.Please advise.

With out the release of debt letter, you will more than likely have to pay.

What happened is they lied and sold the balance of the debt to another company.

Keep all paperwork regarding this amount, because the previous collection agency will send you a 1099-C and you will need to prove to the IRS, that you actually paid the amount that was suspose to be forgiven.
